At a meeting of the regional headquarters, chaired by Akim of the region Askhat Shakharov, issues related to gambling and the activities of financial pyramids were considered. These problems are becoming more and more urgent among the population, especially among young people. The participants discussed ways to prevent these negative phenomena and measures to raise awareness among citizens.
"In accordance with the instructions of the President of the country, measures are being taken to prevent ludomania and provide assistance to victims of this addiction. Given that more and more people, especially among young people, are becoming addicted to gambling, it is necessary to develop comprehensive measures aimed at preventing and treating ludomania," the governor of the region outlined the main tasks in further work.
According to Zhadan Bisenbin, head of the Department of Economic Investigations in Aktobe region, 57 criminal cases have been registered this year on the facts of the creation and management of financial pyramid schemes with damage of almost 20 billion tenge.
With the help of the IMAS system, news portals, blogs, websites and accounts are monitored, all suspicious content is blocked. This year alone, 403 links on financial pyramid schemes were blocked and 6 accounts with 23 thousand subscribers were deleted.
In turn, the head of the Department of Internal Policy Alibek Bayneshov told about the information and explanatory work carried out to improve financial literacy of the population, prevent Internet fraud and prevent ludomania.
"A state school of youth policy has been opened in Aktobe, focused on specialists in youth work. Within the framework of this school, the staff of the youth resource centers conducted a three-day training program covering such important topics as ludomania and reproductive health. The first course was attended by 32 specialists from Aktobe, West Kazakhstan, Atyrau, Mangystau and North Kazakhstan regions, which emphasizes the wide coverage and importance of the project for all regions of the country," Alibek Bayneshov said.
As Gulmira Orazova, Deputy Director for Medical Work at the Aktobe Regional Mental Health Center, noted, not all ludomaniacs seek medical help. Today, the treatment of patients with this diagnosis is carried out on the basis of this center, which is located in the residential area of Zhanakonys. Over the past three years, four people have been treated there, who were not afraid to admit their illness and asked for support. They have been treated and are under dynamic observation. There is an office in the center where patients receive consultations. All requests are anonymous.
After listening to the speakers, the governor of the region instructed, as part of the fight against the spread of gambling addiction, to strengthen work on promoting the harm of ludomania among civil servants and the general population. Special attention should be paid to carrying out preventive and explanatory work among young people. At various venues, including educational institutions and government agencies, to hold debates about the dangers of gambling and its impact on personal life, health and well-being.
Askhat Shakharov also made a proposal to develop a program that will allow early detection of addiction to gambling. To provide qualified assistance to the victims, funds will be allocated for the training of clinical psychologists. Screening is planned in order to prevent ludomania and identify risk groups among various segments of the population. Special attention will be paid to schoolchildren, financial workers and government employees.
"These phenomena pose a serious threat, especially for young people, who often fall victim to promises of easy money. We must join forces to identify such schemes in a timely manner and prevent their spread," the head of the region said.
