Today, the grand opening of the key section of the Zharkent-Khorgos highway, 32 km long, took place in the Panfilovsky district of the Zhetisu region. It is along this highway that a large number of vehicles are moving, heading to the Nur Zholy customs checkpoint, the Khorgos ICBC, Altynkol station, the Khorgos – Eastern Gate FEZ," the press service of the akim of the Zhetisu region reports.
Highways are an important part of the infrastructure of any developed country. These main arteries of cities and districts facilitate the unhindered movement of not only local residents, but also numerous tourists, and also have a positive impact on economic development, strengthening ties with other regions. The border Panfilov district does not lag behind this trend.
The section of the Zharkent-Khorgos road, 32 km long, runs through the villages of Kyrykkudyk, Akkent, Avat, Atameken of Panfilov district. It was built in the 60-70 years of the last century and in recent years has caused discontent among drivers and local residents. Therefore, they took a lot of repair work with great enthusiasm and tried their best to support the builders.
Road repair works were started in July of this year and completed in just five months by the builders of the contractor organization commissioned by the branch of JSC NC KazAvtoZhol of the Zhetisu region.
- In order to develop the infrastructure of the region and improve the operational qualities of roads, this year we carried out an average repair of the old road leading from the border village of Khorgos to the city of Zharkent, - says Nurkat Akyltayev, director of the regional branch of Kazavtozhol JSC. - As part of the project, the quality of the roadway was improved by laying a new two-layer asphalt pavement. Sidewalks have been laid in roadside settlements, lighting has been installed, new road signs and information panels have been installed, markings have been applied to ensure road safety.
The villagers present at the event expressed gratitude, and the chairman of the public council of the Ulkenshygan rural district, Toylybai Dombagulov, noted the comfortable conditions created for the villagers, including the presence of sidewalks, pedestrian crossings, lighting along the entire length of the Zharkent – Khorgos road. According to him, the quality of the roadway was also appreciated by Zharkent drivers who operate the updated road every day.
In general, major projects for the reconstruction of highways of national importance are being implemented in the region. The Usharal-Dostyk road of republican significance has been put into operation. To date, the reconstruction of the Taldykorgan – Usharal highway is at the completion stage, the work has been completed by 98%, the full completion of the facility is scheduled for the end of 2024. Repair work is also underway on the roads of republican significance Saryozek-Koktal and Aidarly – Koktal.
This year, 24.9 billion tenge has been allocated for the development of highways of regional significance. With these funds, 29 projects are being implemented, within the framework of which it is planned to repair 193.4 km of roads. Thus, by the end of 2024, it is planned to achieve the indicator "The share of local highways in good and satisfactory condition" at the level of 94%.
