In Almaty, within the framework of the "Taza Kazakhstan" concept, large-scale work continues to improve the sanitary condition of the city. On behalf of Akim Yerbolat Dosayev, modern buried-type garbage containers are being installed. Since the beginning of the year, 650 buried containers have been installed at 128 sites, and by the end of the year, another 136 will be installed at 14 sites. These containers have a number of advantages: they are completely closed, protected from access by stray animals and birds, eliminate unpleasant odors and improve the appearance of yard areas.
In 2025-2026, it is planned to install more than 2,000 buried containers in the city. They have a larger capacity, take up less space and are equipped with fireproof burlaps made of polypropylene material. A special plastic tray at the bottom of the container prevents liquid leakage. New containers have already appeared in Auezov and Bostandyk districts. In Zhetysu district, some installed containers will be serviced after the purchase of appropriate equipment from next year. In the Turksib district, worn-out garbage cans have been replaced with new ones at several sites. Work in this direction continues.
Residents note the convenience and aesthetic appearance of the installed containers. "These tanks are not only comfortable, but also have a modern, aesthetic appearance, which significantly improves the appearance of the area. This is an important step towards landscaping, and I urge all residents to show responsibility: let's respect our common work and not leave garbage next to containers," Anastasia, a resident of the Almagul microdistrict, addresses the neighbors.
"Previously, iron containers were often corroded, especially in the summer, when high temperatures increased the smell. Now, with the installation of new containers, this problem will finally be solved. We can count on a much cleaner and more comfortable area, where it will be pleasant for all residents to live," said Victoria Gorbunova, a resident of the Bostandyk district.
In general, a number of initiatives are being implemented in Almaty to encourage separate waste collection:
•more than 1,200 eco-boxes are located in the city's organizations;
•There are 11 fandomats for receiving plastic and aluminum bottles;
•500 grain waste collection containers have been installed;
•There are 8 recycling collection points.
Work on improving the waste management system in the city continues, which contributes to improving the level of environmental safety and comfort for residents of Almaty.
