Kostanay region implements the strategic instructions of the Head of State, developing in three key economic areas: mechanical engineering, ferrous metallurgy and processing of agricultural products. One of the priorities of the region remains the development of the machine-building industry, including the automotive industry and the production of automotive components.
Mechanical engineering: expansion of production
To date, there are four large machine-building enterprises in Kostanay region that produce passenger cars, trucks and agricultural machinery. By the way, the fourth plant was launched quite recently, in the fall of 2024. As part of the industrial development of the region, two more new plants are planned to be commissioned by the end of 2025.:
KIA automobile plant with a capacity of 70,000 vehicles per year, which will create 1,500 new jobs;
The truck main transmission plant, where 550 new jobs will be opened.
Additionally, in early 2026, it is planned to launch another automotive components plant, which will become the seventh enterprise in the region's automotive industry and provide domestic automobile plants with the necessary components.
Automotive components factory: localization of production
The construction of a localization center for automotive components is aimed at reducing dependence on imports and strengthening the region's engineering cluster. The implementation of the project will ensure the supply of domestic components for automotive enterprises in Kazakhstan.
Key project indicators:
The volume of investments is 17.8 billion tenge;
Number of new jobs – 800;
Production capacity – 60,000 components per year;
The production area is about 30,000 m2.
What details will be released? The new company will begin production of components previously imported from abroad.:
Seats;
Silencers;
Bumpers, mirrors, plastic body elements;
Electrical harnesses;
Interior and exterior details;
Car paint and sealants.
Jobs and human resources
To date, 5,053 people are employed in the region's machine-building industry, and with the launch of new plants, this number will exceed 7,500 jobs. Active personnel training is underway in the field of automotive, metallurgy and automation, which will provide enterprises with qualified specialists.
The launch of the automotive components plant will be an important step towards creating a full cycle of automotive production in Kazakhstan.
"This project will become the basis for the formation of the first full-fledged machine-building cluster in Kazakhstan, providing Kazakhstani car factories with domestic components," concluded Kumar Aksakalov.
