The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan and NCOC have reached an agreement on mutual cooperation

ATYRAU, Kazakhstan – November 26, 2024 – A trilateral meeting was held in Atyrau region today between the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Major General Genghis Arinov, Deputy Akim of Atyrau region Kairat Nurtaev and Managing Director of North Caspian Operating Company Giancarlo Ruiu.
During the meeting, the parties discussed strengthening the safety of oil and gas industry facilities, as well as the development and implementation of new methods of responding and preventing emergencies. The participants stressed the need to further improve cooperation between the Ministry of Emergency Situations and NCOC in the oil and gas sector, in order to promptly respond to potential risks and threats.
The Head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations noted the importance of the initiative, saying: "Taking into account the importance of the oil and gas industry for Kazakhstan and the need for rapid response to possible threats, on the initiative of the Head of State, the Joint-Stock Company "Teniz Zhasagi" was created. Its main goal is to strengthen national security and create an effective management system for resources and technologies necessary for the protection and development of offshore oil and gas infrastructure."
Genghis Arinov added that the creation of Teniz Zhasagi is a key element of the state policy to ensure safety in the offshore oil and gas industry, maintain environmental sustainability and protect Kazakhstan's strategic interests in the Caspian Sea. He stressed that the organization will play a central role in ensuring emergency preparedness and minimizing environmental risks in the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea.
Giancarlo Ruiu, Managing Director of NCOC, confirmed the company's readiness to cooperate with the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan. He noted that safety is a priority for the company and expressed gratitude to the Government for productive cooperation in this area.
Following the meeting, agreements were reached on joint activities to ensure safe oil production and transportation in the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea.
