As part of the republican campaign "MUZ-2024", rescuers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations daily inform residents and fishing enthusiasts of the safety rules when on the water in winter.
Since the beginning of the hunting and fishing season in the Akmola region, 15 people have been brought to administrative responsibility for violating safety rules in reservoirs. Rescuers conducted explanatory conversations with fishermen of the region, during which they explained how to correctly assess the thickness of the ice, act when it breaks and provide assistance to the victims. Briefings have also been conducted.
"If the thickness of the ice is less than 25 cm, fishing enthusiasts need to carry individual life-saving equipment: a life jacket, a nameplate, a stick of at least 2 and a rope of at least 10 meters, as well as a phone in a waterproof bag. In cases of violation of these requirements, an administrative protocol is drawn up under Article 412 of the Administrative Code, violation or non-compliance with safety rules in reservoirs," Almaz Bekbayev, an officer of the Civil Defense Department of the Emergency Situations Department of the Akmola region, said.
Also, in order to prevent accidents on ice in winter, employees of the Emergency Department of the Karaganda region, together with local executive authorities, representatives of the police service and volunteers, conducted preventive raids on the reservoirs of the region.
Rescuers reminded residents of the dangers of winter fishing and the need for strict compliance with safety rules. Explanatory talks were held with fishermen, during which it was explained how to correctly assess the thickness of the ice, act when it breaks and provide assistance to the victims.
"As part of this campaign, 36 briefings were organized — when issuing permits to fishermen, 119 briefings — in specialized stores, 189 briefings — during preventive raids," said Asset Ashimov, senior officer of the Emergency Department of the Karaganda region.
The safe thickness of the ice for finding one person is 10-15 cm, rescuers say.
Preventive measures will continue throughout the season. The main task of rescuers, representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, MPS and volunteers remains to ensure the safety of citizens, preserve their lives and health.
