A large-scale modernization of the irrigation ditch network is underway in Almaty, aimed at preventing flooding and improving sanitation in the city. These works are carried out within the framework of the republican program "Taza Kazakhstan" and the city campaign "Almaty is our common home".
This year, at the initiative of Akim Yerbolat Dosayev, work has been completed in various parts of the city: 7.4 km of irrigation ditches on 15 streets have been reconstructed in the eastern part of Almaty, irrigation ditches and storm sewers with a length of 30.1 km have been updated in the central part on 67 streets, 20.5 km of irrigation ditches have been built in the western part (Alatau, Nauryzbai and Auezov districts). The measures are aimed at improving the hydrological situation, especially in areas with a high risk of flooding.
The residents of the city express their gratitude for the work done.
"We are very glad that the problem with flooding on Polezhaev Street has finally been solved. Previously, in heavy rains, the water rose to the level of the sidewalks and flooded our yards, which created huge inconveniences. But after the work has been done, the water no longer stands on the roads, and we can safely move around even in rainy weather. Thank you to everyone who took part in this important matter!", - thanks a resident of the district Galina.
"Flooding at the intersection of Makataev and Zhumaliev streets was a real headache for all local residents. In heavy rains, water not only flooded roads, but also got into the basements of houses, creating serious problems. I am very glad that this situation has now been changed - after the work done, the water no longer stagnates. Now we can safely walk and move along the street without fear that it will rain and flood everything again," shares Yerlan, a resident of Zhumalieva Street.
Recall that in Almaty, on the eve of the winter period, within the framework of the republican program "Taza Kazakhstan" and the city campaign "Almaty is our common home", a large–scale cleaning of the street and road network, public places, riverbeds, street urns and a ditch network is being carried out.
