A large–scale citywide clean-up was held in Almaty today as part of the republican campaign "Taza Kazakhstan" and the campaign "Almaty is our common home".
The event was attended by more than 500 residents from all community centers of the city. The participants actively helped in cleaning not only the territories of the centers, but also public places such as parks and squares.
The youth who took part in the Saturday said that they traditionally participate in actions aimed at improving the environmental situation throughout the year.
"Environmental actions are not only a contribution to the cleanliness of the city, but also an opportunity to feel the unity of people who care about nature. Such events inspire us to change the world for the better with our efforts," said Tauasar Murathan, head of the community center of the Turksib district.
Almaty community centers have become an important platform for the education of environmental awareness. According to the Almaty City Youth Policy Department, since the beginning of 2024, more than 1,500 events have been held in these spaces, including lectures, seminars, eco-actions, intellectual games, master classes, acoustic evenings, sports tournaments and much more.
The total coverage amounted to more than 375 thousand people, including 27 thousand representatives of the NEET category.
Since this year, Kazakhstan-made fandomats have been installed in all community centers — special devices for collecting plastic bottles and aluminum cans.
Also, as part of the environmental campaign "Plastic reboot", residents of community centers collected 1 ton of plastic caps. Thus, visitors to this youth space form ecological values, and residents of community centers actively join the ranks of eco-rangers, supporting measures aimed at protecting the environment.
