The project on the development of small schools using digital technologies was tested last year in the Aktobe region. During its implementation, it has shown a significant improvement in the quality of education and the effectiveness of education in rural areas.
In total, the pilot covered 134 small schools in Aktobe region with a contingent of 10.5 thousand students. As a result of the project, 77.4% of schools resolved issues of access to high-quality Internet.
"Digital solutions were used in the learning process, including streaming training by teachers of reference schools. As a result of the project, schools received 155 updated digital classrooms for online learning and science classrooms for laboratory work. Also, more than 1,000 teachers have been trained in educational programs. The results of monitoring educational achievements showed a positive trend in student academic performance in all subjects," said Aliya Chokusheva, Deputy Chairman of the Secondary Education Committee of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
It should be noted that today there are 8 thousand schools in Kazakhstan, of which 67.4% are located in rural areas, and 51.2% are poorly equipped. The largest number of small schools are located in North Kazakhstan, Kostanay, Akmola, Pavlodar, West Kazakhstan and Aktobe regions. Based on the results obtained, this project is planned to be scaled up in the above regions starting next year.
The project was initiated by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan jointly with the Akimat of Aktobe region with the support of the Kazakhstan Khalkyna Foundation, the Foundation for Sustainable Development of Education.
