About 200 schoolchildren will receive diplomas in working specialties in Astana this year, the official website of the Mayor's Office of the city reports.
In 2023, a pilot project to improve the professional skills of high school students was launched at colleges in technical and vocational education. As part of the project, students who study at school in the morning attend a special educational institution in the afternoon that provides specialized professional education. A special feature of the program is that a high school student, in addition to studying at school, learns one specialty and after graduation receives a diploma with a certificate.
The size of the training load does not exceed four hours per day. The amount of study time for education must be at least 48 credits. The training period is 1 year and 5 months.
Three state colleges have been selected in the capital as part of the pilot project. Today, 156 students are studying and undergoing practical training in the specialties "maintenance and operation of motor vehicles", "sewing and fashion design", "cook".
In May of this year, the first students of the project will be awarded a college diploma.
The Astana Department of Education, the college and school administration, and parents monitor their children's academic performance on a monthly basis.
It should be noted that in the Year of Working Specialties, the scale of the pilot project will be expanded.
This year, the city's colleges are planning to accept more than 300 students who will study in the fields of seamstress, baker, cook, hairdresser, florist, mobile manufacturing specialist, electric and gas builder.
