Almaty Mayor Yerbolat Dossayev participated in the Digital Almaty 2025 international digital forum, during which the city leader visited the startup alley and robo-zone, where innovative developments, including projects by Kazakhstani specialists, were presented.
The head of the megalopolis got acquainted with new achievements in digital transformation. In the "Industry X" zone, Kazakhstani technology companies demonstrated successful projects implemented at large industrial enterprises. "Industry X" involves the use of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, to increase efficiency, quality and productivity in various areas of production.
Almaty, acting as the digital hub of Central Asia, has traditionally become a venue for the forum. This year, more than 300 international experts will participate in the event, and successful cases of using digital technologies in the real sector of the economy will be presented within the framework of more than 40 panel sessions.
It is worth noting that one third of Kazakhstan's IT companies are concentrated in Almaty. Thanks to the Almaty IT ecosystem development program, implemented on behalf of the mayor, aimed at developing and supporting startups in key areas, including smart cities, artificial intelligence, big data and sustainable development, the total amount of investments attracted amounted to 19.2 million US dollars, and the total revenue of startups reached 5.37 billion tenge. 2,049 jobs were created.
The Almaty Cyber Games (ACG) project is successfully developing in the megalopolis, the goal of which is to make Almaty the main center of e-sports and the gaming industry in the region. In 2024, the ACG International Tencent Games 2024 joint international tournament was held.
Acceleration and incubation programs successfully completed 309 startups, 16 of which confirmed sales in international markets.
In addition, for the first time in Kazakhstan, video analytics and artificial intelligence were used in Almaty to ensure the safety of city residents. In 2023, the akimat introduced a comprehensive security system in state educational and preschool institutions. Adopting Almaty's successful experience, other regions of the country have also begun to introduce this technology. As part of the Unified Video Monitoring System project, the number of city cameras integrated into a single network will increase to 70 thousand by the end of the year.
