On October 30 of this year, the Committee on Intellectual Property Rights of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a seminar in Almaty on the topic: "Protection and protection of the rights of artists." The event was organized with the assistance of the republican public association "Union of Artists of the Republic of Kazakhstan" and brought together representatives of universities, public associations and government agencies. The seminar was attended by representatives of the Almaty Department of Justice, the RSE "National Institute of Intellectual Property of the Committee on Intellectual Property Rights of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan", as well as the NGO "Kazakhstan Society for Reprographic Rights and Works of Fine Art".
During the seminar, topical issues related to the protection of personal non-property and property rights of artists, ways to protect their rights, the specifics of concluding copyright agreements, as well as the transfer of property rights to users were discussed.
Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Intellectual Property Rights of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kaken G.K., stressed the importance of monitoring her rights and taking measures to protect rights within the framework of civil and criminal legislation. According to the data of the Committee on Legal Statistics and Special Accounts of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan, there is stability in the authors' appeal to the court for protection of their rights. It was also noted that it was necessary to conclude contracts with users, clearly regulate the volume of transferred property rights, the timing and territory of the transfer of rights, as well as the specifics of concluding order agreements.
The seminar participants were presented the procedures for entering information into the State Register for copyrighted works, which was explained by the head of the Copyright Department of the RSE at the National Institute of Intellectual Property of the Committee on Intellectual Property Rights of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan Avvalova R.D.
Chairman of the NGO "Kazakhstan Society for Reprographic Rights and Works of Fine Art" Abdukhalikov R.A., spoke about the development of the field of reprography and the right of succession.
The artists asked questions about the protection of intellectual property rights, the conclusion of contracts, the procedure for obtaining permission to export artistic values outside the Republic of Kazakhstan, etc.
This seminar highlighted the importance of dialogue between artists and representatives of the judicial authorities. Such events contribute not only to raising awareness of rights and responsibilities, but also to further improving legislation in the field of protection of artists' rights. This event was an important step towards strengthening the legal framework and developing the cultural sphere of Kazakhstan.
