The Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan and CNPC discussed key projects in the oil and gas sector

Vice Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Akkenzhenov held a working meeting with representatives of the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). Representatives of KazMunayGas and QazaqGaz also attended the meeting.
The parties discussed topical issues of cooperation, paying special attention to a number of strategically important projects. In particular, the issues of expanding the Shymkent oil refinery, one of the most important projects for increasing oil refining in Kazakhstan, the "Urbamid" project, which is important for the development of the petrochemical industry, as well as the construction of the second line of the "Beineu-Bozoy-Shymkent" gas pipeline, which will significantly increase the throughput of the country's gas transportation system, were discussed.
In addition, the issues of extending contracts for the "MangystauMunayGas" and "Uriktau" fields, as well as the supply and transportation of natural gas were considered.
"The implementation of these projects is of strategic importance for the further development of Kazakhstan's oil and gas industry. We highly value cooperation with Chinese partners and are confident that we will be able to achieve the goals set by joint efforts," noted Vice Minister of Energy Yerlan Akkenzhenov.
Following the results of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue joint work, hold additional technical consultations and agree on further steps to implement mutually beneficial projects.
