A round table meeting was held on the occasion of Thanksgiving Day and the Year of Working Professions, organized by the capital's Department of Religious Affairs and the QAMQOR-ASTANA Public Foundation. Representatives of religious associations participated in the meeting entitled “Labor and Gratitude: The Foundation of Social Development,” the official website of the capital’s akimat reports.
The event, held at the National Academic Library, was aimed at strengthening interfaith harmony in our capital, preserving national unity, promoting the institution of tradition in society and the values ​​of Kazakhstani society. First, an excursion was organized for the participants of the meeting on the topic “Library - a place of knowledge” and the features of the republican library were introduced.
At the opening of the meeting, Deputy Akim of Astana Yeset Baiken made a welcome speech and thanked those present on the eve of the holiday.
“The main values ​​that strengthen the foundation of any state are honest labor and sincere gratitude. Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev declared 2025 the “Year of Working Professions” and emphasized the need to raise the status of a working person. Every citizen who works fruitfully in every field and does quality work for the benefit of our country deserves respect. This year, a number of special events are planned in the capital. One of them is the upcoming VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. Therefore, I believe that effective projects will be implemented this year,” said E. Berikuly in his speech.
The meeting, which was attended by representatives of a number of religious associations, highlighted the importance of raising the status of a working person in society, and made suggestions for future events within the framework of the Year of Working Professions.
“First of all, I would like to congratulate you all on the beginning of the month of Ramadan! The holy month coincides with our holiday, Thanksgiving Day, which calls for unity and mercy. Our people, who have made humanity and morality the cornerstone of their lives, have been able to take care of those who are in need during the difficult and trying years. "During the month of Ramadan, various charitable events are organized in the capital's mosques, and spiritual and educational programs are offered to the community," said the chief imam of the capital, Yerbolat Zhusupov.
During the meeting, which was held in the format of an open exchange of views, the special value of such events was noted, and it was emphasized that it is important to express gratitude to working people not only on a specific day, but always.
