On June 4, 2018, Minister of labor and social protection of Kazakhstan Madina Abylkasymova visited Geneva to participate in the 107th session of the International labor conference.

The main theme of this year's Conference was equality between women and men in the workplace.

In addition, among the issues discussed are the development of social dialogue between governments, workers and employers, the prevention of violence at work, cooperation in the implementation of sustainable development Goals, the abolition of a number of outdated ILO conventions and recommendations.

 The international labour conference is attended by a trilateral delegation of the Republic of Kazakhstan consisting of representatives of the Ministry of labour and social protection, employers ' organizations and trade unions.

During the visit of Minister Madina Abylkasymova, a number of bilateral meetings were organized, including with the Director General of ILO – guy Ryder, with the Deputy assistant to the us trade representative – Erland herfindal, the head of the us delegation - the Director of the international labour office of the Department of labor – Robert shepherd, with the Director of the workers ' Bureau-Ms. Maria-Elena Andre and the head of the Department of labor organizations S. Glovackas. Meeting with the ILO regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, Heinz Koller, and Olga Kulaeva, head of the ILO sub-regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Within the framework of these and other meetings, the issues of social insurance reform in Kazakhstan, the exchange of international experience and seminars, the results of the visit of the ILO mission to Kazakhstan and the implementation of the Roadmap, as well as the participation of trade unions and employers in the social partnership system were discussed.

During the bilateral meeting with the Iranian Minister of labor in Geneva, Ali Rabia, possible areas of cooperation between the two countries were discussed, including within the framework of the Memorandum of understanding in 2016.

By the way, on June 7, 2018, the conference will host the world summit of labor, which will discuss the importance of employment and decent work for peace and sustainable development. The conference will last until 8 June 2018.

 Kazakhstan has been a member of the International Labour Organization since 1992 and fulfills its obligations to the ILO in accordance with its standards and national practice.

Over the years of joint work with the ILO Kazakhstan ratified 24 conventions (8 fundamental, 4 Directive, 12 out of 177 technical), the obligations of which are implemented in the legislation of the country.
