HPV infection is the most common infection worldwide. The human papillomavirus is the cause of the development of serious diseases such as cervical cancer, rectal cancer and other malignant neoplasms. There are more than 200 types of HPV, at least 14 types of HPV, known as high oncogenic squeak types, are transmitted through the mucous membrane and can cause cervical cancer and other cancers. Most HPV infections of any type are asymptomatic. 7 out of 10 cases of cervical cancer are caused by HPV type 16 or type 18. Ways of HPV spread: 1. household contact - through a handshake, a kiss, through damage to the skin. The virus spreads rapidly in a humid environment, so you should be careful when visiting public places - saunas, baths, gyms, pools, toilets.
2. Genital tract- oncogenic types of viruses, when transmitted sexually, cause genital warts that are located on the genitals.
3. Vertical pathway - the virus is transmitted from mother to child while passing through the birth canal. Warts often appear in babies in the first years of life in the mouth or on the skin.
4. The path of self-infection- HPV is often transferred from one part of the body to another during shaving or hair removal.
Cervical cancer is a malignant tumor of a woman's cervix, almost all cases of this disease are caused by HPV infection. Every year, 600,000 cases of cervical cancer and 300,000 deaths from cervical cancer are registered worldwide. About 1,900 new cases of cervical cancer are registered annually in Kazakhstan, or 5 new cases of cervical cancer are diagnosed daily, and more than 600 women die from this pathology per year. Cervical cancer is the second most common type of cancer among women in Kazakhstan in women aged 25 to 44 years.
Currently, there is no cure for HPV, and the only method of prevention is vaccination. The body reacts to the vaccine by producing antibodies that help the immune system fight HPV infection. The vaccine is not capable of causing cancer, it contains individual viral proteins that, once in the body, activate the immune system. The cells of the immune system produce antibodies that are aimed at fighting the human papillomavirus. They have no effect on a woman's fertility (reproductive function), the onset of early menopause, or the occurrence of autism in children born to mothers who received the HPV vaccine.
People who oppose HPV vaccination spread negative information that vaccines are unsafe, ineffective, lead to infertility, sexual promiscuity, that the vaccine contains cancer cells and can cause cancer are unfounded and are myths. The facts are the worldwide use of the vaccine since 2006, and a decrease in the prevalence of HPV among women.
Since September 2024, girls aged 11 have been vaccinated in Kazakhstan according to the National Vaccination Calendar, as well as catch-up immunization for girls aged 12-13 years. The main purpose of vaccination is to protect against cervical cancer. Vaccination of girls also provides protection to their future partners, as well as collective immunity. Vaccination consists of 2 doses of the vaccine is carried out free of charge, with the informed consent of parents or caregivers after a doctor's examination in the absence of contraindications.
Parents, protect your children from this disease.
