Currently, due to the increasing complexity of crimes, Kazakhstan focused on large-scale steps to reform forensic services.
In 2024, the Forensic Research Institute and the Institute of Forensic Expertise in Astana were merged and science and practice were integrated. This method is based on computed tomography, reduces the risk for personnel and allows taking into account national traditions. Kazakhstan said that it is considering the possibility of launching this technology as a pilot project in one of the regional branches of the Forensic Expertise Center.
An important part of the modernization is the digitization of processes. In Kazakhstan, the "E-expert" system, which provides interaction between experts and law enforcement agencies, has been introduced. Currently, the "E-expertise 2.0" system based on artificial intelligence technologies is being developed, which allows to increase the accuracy and speed of the expertise.
Works on improving the forensic service in Kazakhstan will continue. Its goal is to meet world standards and ensure fair justice.
