On May 10, 2025, the Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Samarkand, Talgat Sharipov, took part in the opening ceremony of the First International Paragliding Festival, held in the mountains of the Urgut district of the Samarkand region with the participation of more than 70 athletes from 10 countries, including Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, France, Great Britain, Turkey and Tajikistan.

 The Kazakh side was represented by experienced paragliders from the Samuryk Summer School. The participants of the school not only demonstrated their skills in paragliding, but also actively participated in the cultural program, exchanged experiences with foreign athletes.

 The festival was held in the picturesque area of Mahalla Andak, known for its unique natural conditions favorable for paragliding. In addition to flights, a gastronomic celebration was held within the framework of the festival, where a 25-meter barbecue was prepared, concerts, exhibitions of folk art, national games and master classes were organized. The event is aimed at developing extreme and event tourism in the region, strengthening international relations and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
