The 20th International Quran Recitation Competition is taking place in Rabat from August 10th to 13th, 2026

This competition is organized by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs of the Kingdom of Morocco. The competition aims to support the study of the Holy Quran, encourage proper recitation of the Quran according to the rules of Tajwid, preserve the tradition of memorization and strengthen spiritual ties and friendship between different countries. Winners will be selected in two categories: recitation of the entire Quran and recitation of two and a half chapters according to the rules of Tajwid.

This year, 53 countries from four continents (Asia, Africa, Europe, and America) are participating in the competition: United Arab Emirates, Albania, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Brunei, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Gabon, Gambia, Guinea, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Jordan, Yemen, Indonesia, India, Iraq, Canada, Kazakhstan, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Comoros, Congo, Kenya, China, Kuwait, Qatar, Libya, Lebanon, Mauritania, Mali, Malaysia, Morocco, Maldives, Nigeria, Niger, Egypt, Oman, Palestine, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Somalia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Syria, Togo, Tunisia, Turkey, Tanzania, Chad, and the Central African Republic.

Nine judges were invited to evaluate the participants' performances: six Moroccan and four international, including renowned Quran reciters, Islamic scholars, and hafiz from various countries.

Kazakhstan is participating in these competitions for the second time, and this year our country is represented by two athletes: Saki Sateshov from Almaty and Yerlan Bitanov from Shymkent.
