Behind the strict discipline and polished uniforms of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan lies a vibrant world of creativity — filled with music, dance, and inspiration. These troops are not only guardians of public order but also guardians of morale, uplifting spirits through the power of art — professional musicians, performers, and choreographers.
The Song and Dance Ensemble of the National Guard was established in 1992 and has become an integral part of the country's cultural life. Its members include honored cultural figures and laureates of international competitions such as Gainy Zhumasheva, Zhuldyz Zhabelova, Bauyrzhan Turgumbayev, Yerasyl Bozaev, Bauyrzhan Makaev, and many more.
Today, the Ensemble performs Kazakhstani patriotic compositions, traditional songs and kyuis in modern arrangements, lively choreographic numbers, and even covers of international hits. Their repertoire blends military and folk music with youth-oriented styles and world dance traditions. These performances resonate with audiences and strengthen the cultural connection between the military and the public.
Notably, on the evening of May 21, the creative team will host a memorial concert dedicated to the legendary Kazakh singer Batyrkhan Shukenov. On this day, military artists will present an emotional and vibrant musical tribute to honor his legacy for residents and guests of the capital.
Equally significant is the Exemplary Band of the National Guard, one of the nation’s leading musical collectives, comprising true masters of military band service. Since its early days, the band has actively participated in major state ceremonies, including those attended by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.
The National Guard’s military musicians proudly represent Kazakhstan on the international stage, regularly performing at major wind orchestra festivals such as Amur Waves, Kazan Fanfares, Astana Samaly, Trumpet of Peace, Vivat, Saint Petersburg, and others.
Their musical range spans from marching tunes to classical and pop music. Dynamic formats like parade concerts and defile shows turn every performance into a spectacular event.
A milestone in the band’s history was its participation in the 80th Anniversary Victory Parade, where the musicians debuted several new works — Shattyq, General Shakir Dzheksembayev, Eldin Qorgany, and Batyr — composed by National Guard musicians themselves and performed at such a high level for the first time.
Today, more than 420 creative professionals serve in the National Guard of Kazakhstan. They are not just military performers — they are guardians of the cultural front, combining skill, artistry, and unwavering dedication to the Motherland.
