Abai Day Celebrated in Tbilisi

On 10 August 2026, on the occasion of Abai Day, traditional readings of the works of the great Kazakh poet, thinker and educator Abai Kunanbaiuly were held at his monument in Tbilisi.

The event was attended by staff members of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Georgia, as well as Kazakhstanis residing in the country. Participants recited Abai’s poems and excerpts from his *Words of Edification*, devoted to knowledge, labour, morality, national unity and the spiritual development of the individual.

During the gathering, the special place of Abai Kunanbaiuly in the history and culture of Kazakhstan was highlighted. His literary and philosophical legacy has become an integral part of the country’s national consciousness, while his ideas on enlightenment, justice, responsibility and the pursuit of knowledge remain relevant today.

Particular attention was paid to the importance of Abai’s works in educating the younger generation. The thinker’s legacy encourages continuous self-development, honest work, respect for others and the preservation of spiritual values.

The traditional Abai Readings in Tbilisi contribute to promoting Kazakh literature and culture abroad, maintaining the connection of compatriots with their historical homeland, as well as strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties between Kazakhstan and Georgia.
