A video showing a soldier adjusting a little boy’s cap and teaching him how to properly salute has gone viral, racking up hundreds of thousands of views on TikTok and Instagram, and quickly spreading across social media platforms.
The man behind the touching gesture is 24-year-old Private Alisher Zhaukeshev, a rifleman of military unit 5573, based in the city of Astana. Originally from Aktobe, he is currently serving in the ranks of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The heartwarming moment occurred during the Victory Day parade marking the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. While standing on duty, Private Zhaukeshev noticed a young boy attempting to salute — using his left hand and without a cap. The boy’s sister quickly placed a cap on his head, and the soldier, with calmness and care, gently adjusted the cap and demonstrated the correct way to salute — with the right hand, as military protocol requires.
The soldier’s kind and attentive gesture did not go unnoticed. Social media users were quick to praise his patience, humility, and humanity. Comments poured in: “This is what a real role model looks like!”, “Simplicity and compassion — true traits of a protector of the Motherland.”, “The boy will remember this for the rest of his life!”
Alisher remains humble about the sudden attention:
- It’s never too late to serve and fulfill your duty to your country,” he says. “I’m glad if my small action brought joy or inspired someone.
He admits that he has grown to enjoy patrolling and public service duties, and he has developed a strong connection to the capital city:
“I fell in love with Astana all over again when I started patrolling its streets. Helping people makes you feel truly needed and proud of your service.”
Alisher Zhaukeshev’s story is a vivid example that military service is not just about discipline and duty — it’s about compassion, respect for others, and a sincere love for one’s country.
