Constitution as a pillar of justice: key principles of the rule of law discussed in Aktau

In the city of Aktau, in the building of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, a regional conference was held on the theme “Constitution - guarantor of justice and stability”, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The event brought together representatives of the judicial and executive authorities, law enforcement agencies, scientific and educational communities. Among them were the Chairman of the Mangistau Regional Court M. Teketayev, Deputy Akim of the region T. Koshmaganbetov, Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional Court B. Nurmukhanov, as well as leading lawyers, judges and representatives of state bodies of the region.
In his speech Bakyt Nurmukhanov emphasized that the Constitution of the country has undergone a significant evolution, including four major reforms reflecting the development of the state. He noted that the 2022 reform initiated by the President of the country, which established the Constitutional Court, a key body to ensure the supremacy of the Constitution. As a result of this reform, citizens have been able to actively exercise their right to check the current legislation for compliance with the Basic Law. Thus, to date, the Constitutional Court has received more than 10,000 applications from citizens.
The event included reports on the development of the judicial system, mechanisms for the protection of human rights, the role of the courts in ensuring the rule of law, and educational projects aimed at fostering a legal culture among young people.
At the end of the event, the participants noted the need for further legal education of the population and popularization of key provisions of the Constitution.
