Vilnius, June 9, 2025 – On the occasion of International Archives Day, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in Vilnius between the Central State Archive of Cinema, Photo Documents, and Sound Recordings of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Lithuanian Central State Archives.

This event marked an important step in strengthening cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Kazakhstan and Lithuania. The memorandum aims to promote the exchange of experience, the implementation of joint projects, and the development of professional collaboration in the archival field.

As part of the ceremony, a photo exhibition titled “The Role of Women in Kazakh Steppe Culture in the Late 19th and Early 20th Centuries” was officially opened. The exhibition was prepared and provided by the Kazakh side, while its technical setup and presentation were carried out with the support of Lithuanian colleagues.

Welcome remarks were delivered by Lithuanian Central State Archives Director Dalius Žižys and Ambassador of Kazakhstan Timur Urazayev. Deputy Director of the Kazakh archive Saule Sataeva presented an overview of the institution’s activities and international initiatives.

The signing of the memorandum and the joint exhibition reflect the ongoing development of partnership between archival institutions of both countries and contribute to the promotion of Kazakhstan’s cultural heritage abroad.
