Antwerp, 6 June 2025 – A roundtable on “Kazakhstan’s Transport and Logistics Sector: Opportunities for Belgian Businesses” was held at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges. The event was organized by the European–Central Asia Transport Association (ECATA) with the support of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Belgium and the Port of Antwerp-Bruges.

The roundtable brought together Belgian transport and logistics companies, including Jan De Nul, representatives of the Benelux Chamber of Commerce, the European Commission, the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ), and the TITR Association.

Key topics included Kazakhstan’s role in strengthening connectivity via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), Jan De Nul’s infrastructure projects in the Ports of Kuryk and Aktau, and future cooperation plans – including within the EU’s TAIEX Green Ports initiative.

The parties reaffirmed their readiness for a strategic partnership aimed at developing sustainable logistics solutions across Central Asia.

The Port of Antwerp-Bruges is one of the largest and most modern seaports in Europe, located in Belgium. It is currently the second-largest port in Europe by cargo volume. In 2023, it handled around 271 million tonnes of cargo and over 13 million TEUs. It is also the world’s leading car transshipment port, processing over 3 million vehicles annually.

The port is a leader in sustainability and innovation, with major investments in green energy, hydrogen infrastructure, and digital solutions, aiming to become the world’s first carbon-neutral port by 2050.
