- In 2024/25 MY (marketing year), Kazakhstan will export about 580 thousand tons of durum wheat, which is 63% higher than the previous season (355 thousand tons). This forecast was announced by the head of the Analytics Committee of the Grain Union of Kazakhstan, Yevgeny Karabanov, during the International Conference "Astyk 2025" held in Kostanay region.
This will be the second highest figure after the record 2022/23 MY, when Kazakhstan shipped 646 thousand tons of durum wheat to foreign markets, the expert specified.
The main buyer of Kazakhstani durum is Italy. Over the 10 months of the current season, about 400 thousand tons have already been shipped in this direction (last season for the same period - about 317 thousand tons).
- Since the beginning of 2025, the Food Corporation has sold more than 850 thousand tons of grain on the domestic market and for export. Such data was announced by the company's managing director Tobylbek Omarov.
"In the first half of 2025, the corporation sold over 850 thousand tons of grain. Of this volume, over 200 thousand tons were shipped to foreign markets, which is twice as much as in the same period in 2024. The geography of export deliveries covers strategically important areas. Thus, the company's main partners are government agencies of China, Iran, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan," said T. Omarov.
- This year, Kazakhstan expects a record harvest of sunflower seeds – at the level of 1.7 million tons. This forecast was announced by the executive director for strategic development of the National Association of Oilseed Processors (NAPPC) Andrey Antonov.
With such a gross oilseed harvest, Kazakhstan will be in 6th place in the world in sunflower seed production, almost catching up with Turkey, where the harvest is forecast at 1.8 million tons.
As the speaker specified, the TOP-4 world sunflower producers in 2025/26 MY will traditionally include the Russian Federation (gross harvest forecast is 18 million tons), Ukraine (13.1 million tons), EU countries (9.5 million tons) and Argentina (4.3 million tons).
- After Kazakhstan introduced a duty on sunflower seed exports, one of the top importers, Uzbekistan, sharply reduced imports of Kazakh oilseeds and increased purchases of unrefined sunflower oil. At the same time, Uzbek businessmen are actively opening oilseed processing plants in Kazakhstan for the purpose of further exporting oils to Uzbekistan. This was reported by Alisher Makhmudov, an expert on the agricultural market and logistics of Uzbekistan.
"A lot of our partners are building oil factories here in Kazakhstan - Petropavlovsk, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Shymkent and other cities. The founders are our Uzbek businessmen. They will process oilseeds in Kazakhstan and send finished products to Uzbekistan," the expert said.
According to him, the total consumption of vegetable oils in Uzbekistan today is about 491 thousand tons. Of this volume, 251 thousand tons are produced from local raw materials, 98 thousand tons - from imported oilseeds and another 142 thousand tons are imported as finished products. There are 509 oil and fat enterprises in the republic.
- Thanks to the introduction of transport subsidies, Kazakhstani grain exporters have managed to increase loading in the current season to previously poorly represented destinations: such as Azerbaijan, Aktau port (to Iran), Baltic ports (and further to Europe). This was reported by Zhandos Kuanyshev, Vice President for Commercial Work at Astyk Trans JSC (the largest grain carrier operator in Kazakhstan).
He also noted that despite the increase in grain transportation to Central Asia, the share of this direction has decreased, which became possible due to a competent state policy on diversification of new markets.
"The opportunity to enter new markets led to an increase in prices on the domestic market, which actually leveled out the amount of transport subsidies originally intended to cover transport costs. Thus, the amount of transport subsidies intended to cover transport costs for loading over long distances actually led to an increase in domestic prices," said the representative of Astyk Trans.
- Let us recall that the largest International Conference in the region, “Astyk 2025”, was held within the framework of the International Agricultural Exhibition and Demonstration “Jańa Dala / Qarqyn ‘2025”. The forum of grain market participants was held on the demonstration fields of Vostok-1 LLP and Agrofirma Qarqyn LLP in the Mendykarinsky district of the Kostanay region.
A large-scale event on the eve of the start of the new grain season for the first time brought together more than 500 agricultural producers, representatives of companies engaged in the purchase, sale and international trade of grain, suppliers of agricultural technologies, machinery and equipment. Traders, agricultural enterprises, farms and agro-formations, elevators, flour mills and other companies directly growing and processing grain took part in the work of "Astyk 2025".
A delegation of Uzbek agricultural producers - representatives of the Association of Oil and Fat Industry Enterprises "Uzyogmoysanoat" visited the International Conference "Astyk 2025" to discuss current issues of the agricultural market and establish contacts.
The organizers of "Astyk 2025" are the Information and Analytical Agency "APK-Inform", a leader in the market of agricultural information services in the CIS countries, and the company "EXPO TIME", one of the leading organizers of international exhibitions in the field of agro-industrial complex in Kazakhstan.
