Kenya to Attend VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions

Nairobi, 22 August 2025 – the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Kenya, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the UN Office in Nairobi Barlybay Sadykov held a meeting with the Chairman of the Interreligious Council of Kenya, Bishop Willibard Kitogo Lagho.
The Ambassador informed the Bishop about the concept, goals and objectives of the VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which will be held on the 17-18 September, 2025, in Astana, as well as about the results of previous Congresses. He emphasized the relevance of holding a forum on the development of interreligious dialogue in order to maintain peace and harmony throughout the world. It was noted that the participation of a representative from Kenya for the first time in the history of the Congresses will make a positive contribution to promoting the goals and objectives of the forum, expanding cooperation with religious organizations in Africa, strengthening interaction in the field of interreligious dialogue and expanding intercultural cooperation between Kazakhstan and Kenya.
Bishop Willibard Kitogo Lagho confirmed his participation in the VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Astana, expressed gratitude for the invitation to such a significant forum, emphasizing the importance of this initiative of Kazakhstan for the development of interreligious dialogue, tolerance and harmony throughout the world. The Bishop stressed the importance of further developing cooperation between the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions and the Interreligious Council of Kenya, noting that representatives of the Kenyan side are ready to actively participate in the work of the Congress.
