Kazakh Foreign Minister Arrives in Pakistan on Official Visit

Islamabad, September 9, 2025 – At the invitation of the Pakistani side, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu arrived to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for an official visit. The Kazakh delegation also included Minister of Trade and Integration Arman Shakkaliyev, Minister of Transport Nurlan Sauranbayev, as well as representatives of other state and quasi-state bodies of the country.

During the visit, the Kazakh Foreign Minister held talks with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Ishaq Dar.

The parties discussed the current state and future prospects of bilateral cooperation, focusing particularly on deepening trade and economic ties and elevating cooperation to a qualitatively new level.

In particular, the foreign ministers noted the importance of taking practical measures to achieve the goal of increasing trade turnover to 1 billion US dollars in the coming years, and exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation in the fields of transport, logistics, agriculture, energy, and IT. Special attention was given to enhancing transport connectivity and improving the efficiency of transit logistics.

“Pakistan is our a long-standing friend and an important partner in South Asia. Our countries have developed a meaningful political dialogue, including contacts at the highest levels,” said Minister Nurtleu.

In response, Pakistani Foreign Minister Dar highlighted Islamabad’s commitment to expanding practical ties with Astana.

“Our countries have significant potential for cooperation in trade, economic, and humanitarian fields. We are ready to work together to give new momentum to joint efforts for a stable and prosperous future for our peoples,” he noted.

The interlocutors “compared the notes” on issues of the regional and global agenda, including dialogue within the framework of the UN, CSTO, SCO, OIC, as well as mutual support in promoting international initiatives of the two states.

Cultural and humanitarian cooperation was discussed separately, with both ministers affirming their shared desire to boost humanitarian exchanges, including enhanced collaboration in tourism, sports, and education.

Following the talks, the parties agreed to continue political dialogue, intensify joint projects in priority sectors, and ensure effective coordination between relevant government agencies.

At the end of the meeting, a Joint Action Plan between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan and Pakistan for 2025-2026 was signed, which will serve as an important tool for the consistent implementation of the agreements reached.
