Kazakhstan and Aerospacelab: Exploring Common Orbits of Cooperation

Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, October 24, 2025 – Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Belgium Roman Vassilenko paid a working visit to the headquarters of Aerospacelab, one of Europe’s leading developers and manufacturers of small satellites.
During the meeting with Benoît Deper, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Aerospacelab, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in Earth observation, satellite communications, and technology exchange within the framework of Kazakhstan’s national space programs.
The discussions focused on potential joint projects in satellite production and launch, as well as the development of a data analytics system for Earth observation applications. Special attention was paid to technology transfer and Aerospacelab’s possible involvement in Kazakhstan’s initiatives aimed at expanding its national satellite constellation.
Roman Vassilenko emphasized that Kazakhstan, with its Baikonur Cosmodrome, National Centre for Space Research and Technologies, and advanced scientific and engineering base, views cooperation with Aerospacelab as an important direction for strengthening the nation’s space capabilities and integrating into the global orbital infrastructure.
In turn, Benoît Deper expressed his company’s strong interest in developing partnerships with Kazakhstan, noting the country’s high potential as a strategic partner in Central Asia. He underlined that the synergy between Aerospacelab’s engineering expertise and Kazakhstan’s infrastructure opportunities could establish a sustainable model of technological partnership.
Background: founded in 2018 by Benoît Deper, Aerospacelab is among the most rapidly growing players in Europe’s space industry. The company specializes in design, production, and operation of small satellites, as well as in providing data analytics solutions based on satellite imagery and artificial intelligence. Aerospacelab’s production capacity allows the manufacturing of up to 500 satellites per year. The company cooperates with the European Space Agency (ESA) and private-sector partners. Its total attracted investment exceeds €100 million.
