On November 6, 2025, a large-scale environmental campaign called "Clean Thursday" was held in Shymkent. During the event, city residents, utility workers, active youth, retirees, and volunteers joined forces to clean up the territories of the Turan district and beautify the city environment. The main goal of the campaign was to improve the sanitary conditions of the city, raise the environmental culture of residents, and increase interest in keeping public spaces clean.

Residents of different ages participated in the event. All participants were provided with the necessary equipment: gloves, garbage bags, rakes and brooms. Participants collected garbage from streets and public areas, cleaned fallen leaves, cleaned ditches, and cleaned green spaces and parks. As many participants noted, participation in such actions is not only a way to clean up the city, but also a useful experience that unites different generations.

Pensioners shared their experiences, young people showed their activity, and volunteers helped make the event a success. Children came with their parents and learned to take care of nature and the city. According to the organizers, these events allow residents to raise environmental awareness and form a sense of responsibility for a clean environment in their district.

Yerbol Baikonysov, deputy executive secretary of the city branch of the Amanat party, noted the importance of the campaign. “We call on Shymkent residents to take a responsible approach to the cleanliness of the city. Cleanliness is the key to health. It is important to hold such campaigns regularly so that Shymkent becomes a truly green and comfortable city. When the environment is clean, we ourselves will be spiritually and ecologically clean,” he said.

Since the beginning of 2025, the “Clean Thursday” campaign has been held 43 times in Shymkent. During this time, thousands of tons of garbage have been removed from the city, and the total number of people participating in the campaign has exceeded three thousand. These indicators clearly demonstrate the activity of residents, their civic responsibility, and the effectiveness of working together with public utilities.

During the campaign, the main focus was on cleaning the gutters. The gutters are an important part of the city's water system, and the garbage and leaves in them can lead to flooding of the streets, disruption of water flow, and deterioration of sanitary conditions. Therefore, volunteers and municipal workers cleaned the gutters, removed the garbage, and ensured the free flow of water.

In addition, participants cleaned lawns, sidewalks, and public areas of garbage. All work was pre-divided by districts, and participants cleaned their areas in an organized manner. This approach allowed for an efficient campaign and timely access to each district.

The organizers noted that the campaign was aimed not only at improving the appearance, but also at raising the environmental awareness of residents. The participants immediately saw the results of their work: clean streets, garbage-free areas, a bright and comfortable environment. Many residents were inspired by this sight to maintain a clean environment in their daily lives.

Volunteers appreciated the benefits of working together and working as a team. Young people learned from older people, and retirees shared their knowledge about keeping the environment and the city clean. Thus, the campaign, along with practical work, also had an educational function.

The city's municipal services provided logistical support for the event: delivering equipment, removing garbage, and ensuring the safety of participants. All work was carried out in accordance with sanitary requirements, which allowed improving the sanitary and hygienic conditions of the city.

The "Clean Thursday" campaign became a model not only for the Turan district, but also for the entire city. The unity of participants, the cleaning of public spaces, and the cooperation of people among themselves - all this had a positive impact on the life of the city. This event taught residents to be responsible for a clean environment, helped to maintain their own district, and put neighboring territories in order.

In addition, the campaign has a great social value. Working with neighbors, cleaning up the environment together, creates a sense of community among people. Such events become part of urban culture and teach people to develop a sense of responsibility for their territory and the city.

At the end of the event, the organizers thanked the participants and gave them the opportunity to share their experiences. Many residents noted that seeing the results of their work increased their pride in their cities and that they were ready to continue to maintain cleanliness in the future.

As the Clean Thursday campaign shows, small efforts of individuals can yield big results. Clean streets, collected garbage, clean ditches and parks improve the quality of life in the city. Regularly held campaigns help to form an ecological culture among residents and create a constant interest in keeping the city clean.

Thus, the "Clean Thursday" campaign, held in Shymkent on November 6, 2025, was a success with the joint efforts of city residents, utilities and volunteers. As a result, streets, parks, sidewalks and ditches were made clean, safe and comfortable. The campaign demonstrated the importance of regular events aimed at increasing the ecological culture in the city, educating residents about a clean environment and developing public space.
