Kazakhstan exported 390,000 tons of wheat to Algeria

ALGERIA, December 1, 2025 – For the period January-November 2025, Kazakhstan for the first time exported a massive volume of wheat to Algeria, amounting to 390 thousand tons worth more than 100 million USD.

This was largely facilitated by the state subsidies of transport costs in Kazakhstan in 2025, as well as significant foreign policy support.

In accordance with the instructions of the Head of State to promote Kazakh agricultural products on international markets, the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Algeria held talks with the leadership of key government organizations and agencies in this North African country.

Thus, on January 14, 2025, Ambassador Anuarbek Akhmetov met with the Director General of the Algerian Interprofessional Office of Cereals (OAIC), ​​Nasreddine Messaoud, who coordinates centralized state import purchases of cereals and pulses. During the meeting, he was presented with the samples of Kazakh wheat with a laboratory test results, provided by the national company “Food Contract Corporation”. The head of OAIC praised a high quality of our wheat and expressed interest in organizing its supply to the Algerian market.

On June 22, 2025, A.Akhmetov held talks with the Minister of Agriculture of Algeria, Youssef Cherfa, who expressed his political support for expanding comprehensive agricultural cooperation with Kazakhstan, including the supply of our grain to Algeria.

Actually, in addition to wheat, Kazakhstan has a great potential for exporting meat, pulses and other types of agricultural products to Algeria. 

For reference: Algeria is one of the largest wheat importers, ranking fifth globally and purchasing up to 9 million tons of soft class annually. Supplies are centralized by the state and strictly managed through the Algerian Interprofessional Office of Cereals, which regularly holds international tenders.
