At an extended meeting of the Government chaired by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov reported on the ongoing work to ensure the country's sustainable economic development.

The Head of Government noted that, in accordance with the tasks set by the President and the strategic goals outlined in the Address to the People of Kazakhstan, measures aimed at systemic economic transformations were taken in 2025.

The decisions made in tax, tariff, and budget policy, as well as in the digital and construction sectors and the social sphere, are aimed at consistently eliminating structural imbalances hindering economic development.

Tax and budget reforms have made it possible to form the country's three-year budget without attracting targeted transfers from the National Fund. As a result, a systematic reduction of the budget deficit to 0.9% of GDP is expected by 2028. The dependence of local budgets on the republican budget is also decreasing — from 50% in 2025 to 34% in 2028.

By the end of 2025, against the backdrop of implemented reforms, it was possible to maintain steady economic growth. In value terms, the increase in gross domestic product amounted to 20.1 billion US dollars. Overall, GDP growth for the year reached 6.5%.

Positive dynamics were ensured by the accelerated development of key economic sectors. In particular, growth in the transport sector was 17.8%, in construction — 14.6%, in mining — 17.4%, in manufacturing — 12.2%, in trade — 26%, and in agriculture — 5.9%.
