Labour migrants in the service sector: where do risks most often arise, and how can they be prevented? These issues were discussed at a roundtable held as part of the IOM programme «Labour Migration – Central Asia.»

As part of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) project «Labour Migration Programme – Central Asia,» state labour inspectors A. Kasymova and D. Sadykbekova took part in a roundtable discussion on the topic:
«Service Sector Work of Migrants: Monitoring Employment and Working Conditions in the Karaganda and Ulytau Regions.»
During the event, participants discussed key issues related to the employment of labour migrants in the service sector, working conditions, compliance with labour legislation, as well as mechanisms for monitoring employment and preventing violations of labour rights.
Special attention was given to the need for inter-agency cooperation, increasing awareness among workers and employers, and developing practical tools to protect the rights of migrant workers.
At the end of the meeting, participants exchanged views and proposals on improving the monitoring of employment and working conditions of labour migrants in the region.
