19 February 2026, Montreal, ICAO Headquarters – The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has announced the first group of Global Ambassadors and Champions under the ICAO Global Ambassadors Programme. This initiative aims to raise awareness of the role of aviation, attract the next generation of professionals, and promote sustainable development in international civil aviation.

ICAO’s Global Ambassadors and Champions will support the promotion of aviation as a field of opportunities, innovation, and global engagement, while also advancing workforce development, inclusivity, and the creation of a sustainable aviation system for the future.

From the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Global Ambassador is Ms. Saltanat Tompieva, Chairperson of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan. She is the first representative from the Central Asia region to receive this distinction.

The appointment of the Kazakh representative reflects the country’s active role within ICAO and its contribution to the development of international civil aviation, including flight safety, aviation security, sustainable development, and professional workforce training.

The Global Ambassadors and Champions Programme supports the implementation of ICAO’s Strategic Objectives and aims to build a safe, secure, and environmentally sustainable air transport system worldwide.
