A Mobile Phone Was Attempted to Be Smuggled to a Detainee Inside a Loaf of Bread in the East Kazakhstan Region

A 22-year-old resident of Ust-Kamenogorsk attempted to smuggle a smartphone into a pre-trial detention center by hiding it inside a food parcel. He intended to pass the phone to a detainee friend for personal use within the facility. The smartphone, concealed inside a loaf of bread, was discovered during an inspection by facility staff. The prohibited item was confiscated by the officers.

“An administrative offense case was initiated against the citizen, who had been previously warned by facility staff about the prohibition on bringing and handing over banned items to convicted or detained individuals,” commented the official representative of the department, Saltanat Dauletbek.
