Kazakhstan and Kenya intend to develop cooperation in the field of mining and the use of sea ports

Nairobi, March 27, 2026 – The Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Kenya Barlybay Sadykov met with the Minister of Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs of Kenya Hassan Joho, during which prospects for the development of cooperation in the field of exploration and production of mineral resources and the use of Kenyan seaports were discussed.
H.Joho noted that Kenya has large reserves of mineral resources and there is huge potential for cooperation with Kazakhstan. He expressed Nairobi's interest in expanding bilateral cooperation with Astana in the field of mining mineral resources and developing Kenya's infrastructure, including sea ports.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to intensify cooperation in the mining industry and in the development of transit and transport routes, including the use of Kenyan ports, and the organization of meetings with the participation of experts from the two countries.
