Berlin, 29 March 2026 – A series of festive events dedicated to Nauryz, the holiday of spring and renewal, took place in the German capital. The celebrations were held with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Federal Republic of Germany. They brought together representatives of government institutions, the business community, cultural organizations, the diplomatic corps, the Kazakh diaspora, as well as residents of Berlin.

In his festive address, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan, Nurlan Onzhanov, emphasized the historical and international significance of Nauryz, recalling its recognition by UNESCO and the United Nations, as well as its role as a symbol of renewal, peace, and mutual understanding among nations. He noted that the values embodied by Nauryz – respect, unity, and the aspiration for creativity and harmony – resonate with the principles of intercultural dialogue and cooperation between Kazakhstan and Germany.

A highlight for many guests was the rich cultural program. The ethno‑folklore ensemble Kagan from Shymkent performed traditional Kazakh küy compositions, modern ethno pieces, and original interpretations of German melodies, receiving an enthusiastic response from the audience.

Another special moment of the celebration was the performance by the popular singer Helena Goldt, who moved from Kazakhstan to Germany as a child but has preserved a deep connection to Kazakh culture. Her rendition of a song in the Kazakh language became one of the most touching moments of the evening and was met with heartfelt applause.

Participants also had the opportunity to explore elements of Kazakh cultural heritage – from a traditional yurt and decorative arts to national cuisine – allowing them to feel a part of the Kazakh steppe. The event featured traditional dishes such as beshbarmak, kuirdak, pilaf, shashlik, baursaks, as well as the main symbol of the holiday, Nauryz kozhe. The atmosphere of hospitality and unity enabled guests to experience the spirit of the holiday and immerse themselves in the richness of Kazakhstan’s traditions.

The Nauryz celebration in Berlin once again demonstrated that, no matter where Kazakh citizens may live, they remain united by shared values, the memory of their homeland, and a commitment to preserving their cultural heritage.

The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Germany expresses its gratitude to all partners, participants, and guests for their contribution to the organization of the festivities and for supporting cultural dialogue.
