On March 26, 2026, a briefing was held at the Regional Communications Service of the East Kazakhstan Region with the participation of Sairankan Kabysh, Deputy Head of the Department of State Revenues for the East Kazakhstan Region. The briefing covered issues related to vehicle tax administration, payment deadlines, tax arrears among the population, and changes in tax legislation.

The speaker reminded vehicle owners that the deadline for paying vehicle tax for 2025 expires on April 1, 2026. The calculation is based on the monthly calculation index (MCI) of 3,932 tenge, which was in effect in 2025. The tax amount can be calculated independently using the official web portal of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as through the “e-Salyq Azamat” mobile application. Payment is available via banking apps, ATMs, and payment terminals.

As of March 16, 2026, the total tax arrears amounted to 385.9 million tenge across 6,907 taxpayers in the region, with a noted decrease. A set of measures is applied to recover debts, including the transfer of cases to private bailiffs.

The briefing also highlighted key changes to the tax legislation that came into force in 2026. In particular, the tax burden for vehicle owners has been reduced: for vehicles older than 10 years, the tax is reduced by up to 30%, and for those older than 20 years, by up to 50%. Additionally, peasant farms are exempt from paying tax on one pickup truck, and legal entities owning vehicles are exempt from submitting the calculation of current payments under tax reporting form 701.00.

At the conclusion of the briefing, the speaker urged vehicle owners to pay their taxes on time before April 1 to avoid enforcement measures.
