Brussels, April 9, 2026 – An evening of Kazakh music was held with great success at the town hall of the Saint-Gilles municipality in Brussels.

The event was organized by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Belgium with the support of the Akimat of Astana and took place as part of the inaugural Shanyraq Fest Brussels.

The evening brought together representatives of the Royal Court of Belgium, European Union institutions, the diplomatic corps, as well as business and cultural circles.

In his welcoming remarks, Mayor Jean Spinette stated:
“Kazakhstan possesses a rich and unique culture that deserves broad international recognition. We are pleased to present it in Brussels.”

The Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Belgium, Roman Vassilenko, emphasized that such concerts provide an opportunity to present contemporary Kazakh art to European audiences, foster mutual understanding, and open new avenues for cultural cooperation.

The Managing Director of the Creative Industries Development Fund of Kazakhstan Yerlan Kanalimov also took part in the event. He highlighted the dynamic growth of Kazakhstan’s creative industries and their expansion into international platforms, opening new opportunities for cooperation and promotion of Kazakh artists.

The concert program was presented by artists of the State Academic Philharmonic named after Yerkegali Rakhmadiyev in Astana. It featured the folk ensembles “Zhoshy” and “Korkyt,” as well as renowned Kazakh performers Rinat Gaisin, Sundet Baigozhin, Amre, Rukhiya Baityukenova and others. The program included traditional kyui, vocal pieces, and instrumental compositions.

A distinctive visual highlight of the evening was the dressing of one of Saint-Gilles’ symbols – the statue of the water-carrying girl – in a traditional Kazakh costume.
