Astana defines cooperation frameworks: KazAID and The International Organization for Migration

On April 8, 2026, Astana – the Deputy Chairman of the Board, Director of the Department of Partnership and Regional Projects of KazAID J. Asanov had a meeting with the Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Kazakhstan S. Aktoprak at the UN House.

 

During the meeting, IOM representatives presented the information about the programs of the organization in the field of inclusive education for migrants, disaster risk reduction and emergency preparedness for migrants, as well as partnerships in the field of labor mobility.

 

The parties discussed issues of cooperation in order to implement joint projects within the framework of the signed Memorandum between the two organizations. At the end of the meeting, KazAID representatives were invited to the upcoming IOM events to share their experience and knowledge in the field of migration in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

 

Background Information

The Kazakh Agency of International Development “KazAID” is an official development assistance (ODA) implementing agency established by the Government of Kazakhstan in 2020. The agency’s mission is to implement state policy in the field of ODA, promoting development and sustainable growth in partner countries, showcasing Kazakhstan’s achievements in various fields, and facilitating the exchange of experience and the establishment of contacts between specialists from different countries.

The International Organization (IOM) - part of the United Nations System and stands as the leading intergovernmental organization in the field of migration. The IOM Constitution recognizes the link between migration and economic, social and cultural development, as well as to the right of freedom of movement.
