Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alibek Bakayev held a meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Andrey Rudenko.
During the meeting the parties conducted a comprehensive exchange of views on a wide range of issues related to cooperation in Asia, including within the framework of regional organizations such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
Particular attention was paid to the further development of CICA, including its gradual transformation into a full-fledged international organization.
Deputy Minister Bakayev noted that over the years of its operation, CICA has proven itself a sought-after multilateral mechanism contributing to the expansion and strengthening of confidence-building measures aimed at reducing the conflict potential in the region. In this regard, the importance of its further institutionalization as a key element of the emerging inclusive and indivisible security architecture in Asia was emphasized.
Kazakh Deputy Minister also held a meeting with his another Russian counterpart Dmitry Lyubinsly, during which issues of further bilateral cooperation in multilateral platforms in the field of human rights were discussed.
