Working Visit by the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the State of Maharashtra: Strengthening Investment Partnerships and Expanding Bilateral Cooperation

Mumbai, April 27–29, 2026 – Mr. Azamat Yeskarayev, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of India, paid a working visit to Mumbai.
During the visit, a series of meetings was held with the leadership of Kazakhstani and Indian companies, representatives of Maharashtra’s political circles, and religious leaders. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen trade, economic, and investment cooperation, as well as to promote joint projects of mutual interest.
On April 27, 2026, a meeting was held with the management of Ust-Kamenogorsk Titanium-Magnesium Plant JSC. During the talks, the parties discussed the implementation of the Kazakh-Indian project “IREUK Titanium Limited,” which focuses on the production of titanium slag. Its strategic importance was emphasized, given the steady demand for titanium products and its contribution to the development of industrial cooperation between Kazakhstan and India. The Ambassador reaffirmed the Embassy’s full support for the project and its readiness to assist at every stage of implementation, including liaising with Indian government agencies and facilitating the negotiation process.
The visit also included a meeting with Sucharita Choudhury, President for Business Development and Corporate Relations at Tata Sons Private Limited. The parties discussed prospects for investment cooperation and priority areas of collaboration. The Indian side confirmed its interest in implementing projects in Kazakhstan, viewing the country as a key partner in Central Asia. Kazakhstan’s significant potential, creating favorable conditions for long-term industrial initiatives, was also noted.
Particular interest was expressed in projects in the energy sector, mining and metallurgy, and heavy industry, including participation in the extraction and processing of raw materials, modernization of production facilities, and implementation of advanced technologies. In addition, the parties discussed the possibility of implementing infrastructure projects in the field of digital technologies, including the construction of an artificial intelligence data center in Ekibastuz using cutting-edge solutions. Interest was also shown in airport construction and other large-scale infrastructure projects aimed at developing transportation, logistics, and industrial capacity.
The Ambassador confirmed his readiness to assist in establishing contacts with government agencies and national companies, as well as to support investment initiatives. It was emphasized that attracting major international investors aligns with Kazakhstan’s goals of economic diversification.
The parties agreed to exchange information, develop concrete proposals, and prepare a “Roadmap” for further cooperation, outlining priorities, implementation phases, and responsible parties. They also confirmed their commitment to maintaining a regular working dialogue, including consultations and follow-up meetings.
Special attention was given to cooperation in the spiritual and humanitarian spheres. During a meeting with religious leader Samir Somaiya, President of the Somaiya Vidyavihar Center for Indology, the importance of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions as an effective platform for interfaith dialogue was highlighted. The parties expressed their willingness to further develop cooperation and maintain regular contact. Samir Somaiya spoke highly of Kazakhstan’s experience in promoting interfaith harmony and reaffirmed his interest in continued collaboration.
With the assistance of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the state of Maharashtra, a business dinner was organized with the participation of representatives from the region’s political and business circles. The event provided an opportunity to hold discussions in an informal setting, establish and expand business contacts, and explore promising areas of cooperation with a view to developing concrete initiatives.
Overall, the visit contributed to strengthening Kazakh-Indian ties, gave new impetus to the development of trade, economic, and investment cooperation, and expanded contacts in the business and cultural spheres. The agreements reached and the connections established form a solid foundation for the practical implementation of joint projects and the further deepening of bilateral partnership.
