Today, the regional akim Murat Ergeshbayev met with the Honored Worker of Kazakhstan, honorary professor of the Kazakh National Conservatory, renowned zhyrau, and folklorist scientist Almasbek Almatov.
The meeting discussed the development of the zhyrau and zhyrshy art, passed down from generation to generation in our region, as well as issues of attracting youth to national art.
The head of the region particularly noted the merits of the figure who made an invaluable contribution to the flourishing of traditional Kazakh art, who scientifically researched our national heritage, implemented it into the system of professional education, and nurtured students.
During the years of independence, zhyrau art was introduced into the system of academic education, and the specialty "Traditional Art – Zhyr" was opened. Students nurtured by Almasbek Almatov presented to the entire country schools based on the maqam-saz features of our region.
It is known that the Head of State, at the final meeting of the National Kurultai in Kyzylorda, noted: "In general, it is not for nothing that they say 'Syr eli – zhyr eli'. The zhyrau-zhyrsy and kuy art, continuing since the time of Korkyt Ata, has spread widely in this region. The entire country knows the zhyrsy schools founded by such outstanding masters as Zhiyenbay, Nurtygan, Nartay."
The scientist-mentor also worked fruitfully on popularizing traditional Kazakh art in the world community. He performed concerts in the USA, France, Italy, Switzerland, Great Britain, Egypt, Mongolia, and other countries, contributing to the international recognition of our national culture.
Today, professional zhyrsy-zhyrau are being trained at the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory, the Kazakh National University of Arts, and the Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University. They are winners of international and republican competitions.
It is worth noting that last year, a creative evening "Zhyr Keruen" dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Almasbek Almatov was held at the "Arts Center". At the evening, Nurlybek Mashbekovich, on behalf of the residents of Kyzylorda, expressed respect to the zhyrau and presented the Honorary Certificate of the Kyzylorda Region and car keys.
The Ankara University of Music and Fine Arts has appointed a monthly scholarship of 300,000 tenge to Malika Aldamzharova, a doctoral student in the "Traditional Art" specialty, and to Kunsulu Turikpen and Akerke Dabylyova, doctoral students of the "Traditional Musical Art: Traditional Zhyr" educational program at the K. Baiseitova Kazakh National University of Arts.
