Construction of the 1,500-seat multifunctional sports complex, Atyrau Arena, has begun in the Atyrau region. The new facility, which meets international standards, will be located in the Nursaya microdistrict on a 4.6-hectare site.

At the time capsule laying ceremony, Serik Shapkenov, Akim of the Atyrau region, the Head of the Department of Physical Culture, Sports, and Tourism, veteran sportsmen, and athletes participated.

Head of the region noted that the construction of the new sports facility is being implemented in line with the instructions of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to develop mass sports and create a modern sports infrastructure.

"The provision of sports infrastructure to the population in the region is 71%. The sports industry is steadily developing in the region. Eight sports complexes opened last year, and an additional 22 facilities are planned for this year. Particular attention is being paid to the development of Olympic sports. The new Atyrau Arena complex will provide training facilities for 20 Olympic disciplines. I am confident that this facility will produce new champions and become an important center for sports development in the region," Serik Shapkenov noted.

The project is being implemented under an EPC contract, which provides for the contractor's full responsibility, from design to commissioning. Construction work is being carried out by Alem Kurylys LLP. Modern training halls equipped in accordance with international standards will be provided for each discipline. Upon completion, approximately 2,000 children and teenagers will be able to participate in sports on a regular basis.

According to project manager Nursultan Zhylanbas, approximately 400 workers and 20 pieces of equipment will be involved in the construction.

"Construction is scheduled for completion in November 2027. The complex will offer sports facilities for football, volleyball, basketball, swimming, table tennis, archery, boxing, taekwondo, judo, freestyle, Greco-Roman, and women's wrestling, fencing, triathlon, and other sports. It will also feature a climbing wall—one of only three such facilities in the country. Furthermore, the project includes a 5,000-square-meter multi-purpose sports hall, which will be able to host international competitions," Nursultan Zhylanbas said.

The complex is also planned to host training camps, national and international competitions, and mass sporting and cultural events. The new facility will be accessible to all segments of the population and will become one of the largest sports centers in the Atyrau region.
