From May 17 to 22, 2026, the city of Semey hosted the Abay Regional Akim's Prize Folk Games, bringing together the region's strongest athletes. The competition included various disciplines, in which participants demonstrated a high level of training, fortitude, and the will to win.
Representatives from the city of Kurchatov performed particularly well, winning prizes in several sports.
In arm wrestling, team coach Galina Ivanovna Almukhambetova excelled, taking first place in the +65 kg weight category, demonstrating confident technique and outstanding physical fitness.
In the kettlebell lifting competition, Artem Vladimirovich Kolbasin won second place in the 78 kg weight category, demonstrating endurance and consistent results throughout his performance. In the Kazakh wrestling competition, athletes from Kurchatov also showed impressive results:
Kurmanbay Bekzat Sayanuly took third place in the 82 kg weight class;
Yernar Aibekovich Nurekenov took third place in the 100 kg weight class.
Following the competition, Kurchatov Mayor B. Abdraliev congratulated the athletes and coaches on their successful performance, noting their contribution to the development of sports and the popularization of national wrestling and strength disciplines.
