“KAZAKHSTAN AND UZBEKISTAN STRENGTHEN INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION IN THE FIELD OF ASSET RECOVERY”

On 25 June 2026, the General Prosecutor’s Office held a seminar with the participation of representatives of the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the topic “International Cooperation in the Identification, Freezing and Recovery of Illicitly Acquired Assets”.
The event was organized within the framework of the implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation and the Joint Action Program for 2026–2027 signed by the Prosecutors General of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
During the seminar, participants discussed current issues of international cooperation in the tracing, freezing, confiscation and recovery of illicitly acquired assets.
Particular attention was paid to the practice of implementing the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On the Recovery of Illicitly Acquired Assets to the State”, the use of the civil confiscation mechanism, issues related to the management of recovered assets, as well as the investigation of crimes involving digital assets.
The participants exchanged practical experience, examined contemporary challenges arising from the transnational nature of financial crimes, and discussed further areas of cooperation in the field of asset recovery.
Following the seminar, the parties confirmed their interest in further developing the partnership, expanding practical cooperation, and implementing joint initiatives aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of identifying, freezing and recovering illicitly acquired assets.
The holding of such events contributes to strengthening international cooperation and increasing the effectiveness of joint efforts to protect the economic interests of states.
