In the medium-security institution of the penal system in the Abai region, convicts employed in a production workshop for the manufacture of metal structures and applied art products have begun manufacturing pavilions designed to accommodate cafes and kiosks selling food.
Production is carried out according to individual orders. The pavilions are made of durable metal frames using modern sandwich panels, which ensures their reliability, durability and compliance with operational requirements.
The average production time for one pavilion is from two to three weeks. To date, this is the sixth object produced by convicts as part of the production activities of the institution.
- Working on the shop floor gives you the opportunity not just to take time, but to really learn the business. With the salary we receive, we pay for court-ordered lawsuits, as well as provide assistance to our loved ones. We understand that this experience will be useful to us in freedom, will help us find a job and start life anew," the convict shared.
The employment of convicts contributes to their social adaptation, the formation of professional skills and preparation for life after release.
Such projects are important both for the convicts themselves and for the development of the institution's production potential.
The involvement of convicts in labor allows not only to ensure their employment, but also to train them in sought-after professions. Working on such orders builds responsibility, discipline, and provides practical skills that will be useful after release. In total, the institution has ten sole proprietors and one LLP that produce toilet paper, household soap and national dishes made of wood," said Kuanyshbek Tukanova, head of the Labor organization department for convicts.
Work on the development of production activities and the expansion of the list of products in the institution continues.
