The Government of Tunisia Is Interested in Expanding Cooperation with Kazakhstan

Tunis, 27 June 2026 – On the sidelines of the Tunisia Investment Forum, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan Anuarbek Akhmetov held meetings with Prime Minister of Tunisia Sarra Zaafrani Zenzri, Minister of Economy and Planning Samir Abdelhafidh, Minister of Trade and Export Development Samir Abid, Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia Fethi Zouhair Nouri, the Governor of Tunis Imed Boukhris, as well as executives of the country's leading public and private companies.

During the meetings, the Ambassador briefed his interlocutors on the political course pursued by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the entry into force of the new Constitution, the country's current economic situation, its investment climate, and the priorities for the development of trade and economic cooperation.

Prime Minister S.Zaafrani Zenzri welcomed Kazakhstan's participation in the Investment Forum and expressed the Government of Tunisia's readiness to facilitate the further development of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

Minister of Economy and Planning S.Abdelhafidh underlined the importance of intensifying business contacts and promoting exchanges of business delegations. He noted that Kazakhstan and Tunisia have considerable potential to expand investment cooperation, particularly in the automotive industry, transport, light manufacturing, and the food industry.

Minister of Trade and Export Development S.Abid described Kazakhstan as a new strategically important partner for Tunisia. He expressed strong interest in significantly increasing bilateral trade and confirmed his readiness to create favorable conditions for further expanding trade and economic cooperation.

Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia F.Z.Nouri noted that both countries are pursuing responsible macroeconomic policies aimed at maintaining financial stability, curbing inflation, and strengthening their banking sectors. In his view, the stable and market-oriented monetary policy frameworks of Kazakhstan and Tunisia provide a solid foundation for long-term investment cooperation.

In addition, the Ambassador held meetings with Directors General of relevant departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tunisia, as well as the leadership of the National Library and the country's oldest Municipal Opera House.

At the conclusion of the meetings, representatives of Tunisia's government institutions, financial sector, and business community expressed strong interest in Kazakhstan, its economic potential, technological capabilities, and ongoing reforms. They also wished Kazakhstan continued success in implementing its political and socio-economic reform agenda.
