Prague, 26 June 2026 – Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Czech Republic Kairat Abdrakhmanov visited the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, where he met with Rector Michal Lošťák and members of the University's academic leadership. The meeting provided an opportunity for an in-depth exchange of views on the current state of cooperation between higher education institutions of Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic, as well as on avenues for further expanding academic and research partnerships.

Rector Michal Lošťák outlined the University's core areas of expertise, which include agricultural sciences, crop production, seed technology, animal husbandry, forestry, agricultural economics, environmental protection, and related disciplines. He noted that the University has established a strong record of cooperation with Kazakhstani higher education institutions. To date, CZU has concluded memoranda of cooperation with ten universities in Kazakhstan, with S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University and the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University in Almaty serving as its principal partners. These partnerships have already resulted in several successful joint research projects. In addition, more than 700 students from Kazakhstan are currently enrolled at the University, while plans are being developed to expand cooperation in doctoral education and research training.

During the meeting, Ambassador Abdrakhmanov briefed his Czech counterparts on Kazakhstan's ongoing constitutional reforms and the broad transformation agenda aimed at strengthening the national education system and developing a highly skilled workforce across key sectors of the economy, including agriculture. He also welcomed the steady implementation of the agreements reached during the successful official visit of Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš to Astana in April 2026.

The discussion also highlighted Kazakhstan's growing interest in advanced expertise in integrated water resource management, sustainable forest management, and the development of a modern, technology-driven agri-food sector based on digital solutions and artificial intelligence. Both sides emphasized the considerable potential for expanding cooperation in these strategic areas, drawing on the scientific and educational capacities of leading universities in Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to further strengthening inter-university cooperation and making greater use of the significant professional potential of Kazakh graduates of the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague in advancing bilateral academic and scientific ties.
