Honoring the spiritual heritage of the great poet, thinker and educator Abai Kunanbaiuly is our common responsibility. With this purpose, in 2020, by a resolution of the Government, August 10 was established as a commemorative date — Abai Day. This year marks the 181st anniversary of the birth of the great educator and composer. In this regard, a literary and musical evening titled “Abai of the Great Nation” was held today at the “Rukhaniyat” Center to mark Abai Day.

During the event, a book exhibition dedicated to the poet’s life and creative works, as well as his invaluable contribution to the development of Kazakh literature and culture, was presented to the audience.

At the opening of the event, organized in accordance with the direct instructions of the district akim, Deputy Akim of the district Dias Moldabayev delivered a speech and congratulated those present on the commemorative occasion.

“Head of State Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev highly regards Abai as a world-class genius and an outstanding thinker who deeply explored the spiritual world of the Kazakh people. He has also emphasized that Abai’s poems and Words of Edification are a reflection of our national identity. Today, on the initiative of the President, special attention is being paid to promoting Abai’s legacy and teachings. Abai’s heritage is not only a light from the past, but also a guiding beacon for the present and the future. Therefore, may the spiritual teachings of the great poet continue to awaken the consciousness of our people, and may the spirit of Abai always remain exalted,” he said.

Last year, the 180th anniversary of Abai Kunanbaiuly was widely celebrated throughout the district. In this regard, Dias Asylbekuly noted that efforts to pass on the great poet’s teachings to younger generations and promote his works will continue in the future.

During the evening, the works and poems of the great thinker were performed, along with a medley of his songs.

Speaking at the literary evening, Chairman of the District Council of Veterans Askar Merekov and Chairman of the Public Council Abdrakhman Kulduisenov emphasized that the profound teachings of the great poet, who called on people to pursue knowledge and science, honest labor, humanity and devotion to the nation, will continue to be passed down from generation to generation.
